Perthfur Gathering #4
Well furs, it's that time of year again. The 4th bi-annual Perthfur Gathering (or "PFG") is set to take place at our regular venue - The Dianella Scout & Guide Hall - on October 9th, 2010. This is Perth's biggest furry event, drawing around 70 furs from Perth and regional WA. It's open to everyone, furs and furry-friendlies alike, and we'd love to see some interstate visitors again this time.

It's largely a freeform event where furs hang out and make their own fun, but there will be a number of activities held throughout the day including a group photo, BBQ dinner, inflatable toy races, a plushie fox hunt and more :)

As with the previous PFG, you can register your attendance online at http://gathering.perthfurs.net/ - and this time, we've introduced the option of up-front payment via PayPal. This is entirely optional, but doing so will help to take the risk out of organising the event and, even better, it gets you a printed badge with your name, species and avatar.

There are less than 25 days to go, and RSVPs are now open. So, if you can make it this time 'round, we'd love to see you there!

Places of interest:
http://gathering.perthfurs.net/ - Contains all the info you need to know about the event, and lets you RSVP.

Mardi Gras 2009 - Furovision
Hi Guys,

I'm calling out around the world, "Are you ready for a brand new beat?"
Summer's here, and the time is right, for dancing in the street!

I'm sorry. I couldn't help myself.

But it's true, Mardi Gras is just 4 weeks away, and it's time to get
cracking and get you all involved!
The torch has been passed from Dustan and Lupie to myself, and this is
my first time organising the furry float, so bear with me.

This year, the parade's theme is "Nations United", which was a
stumper, but for which we have come up with...

The Furovision Song Contest!

For those of you who haven't heard, Eurovision is an annual
competition held among active member countries of the European
Broadcasting Union (EBU). The competition launched the careers of
stars such as ABBA and Celine Dion!

Our MASSIVE truck will be decorated as a stage, with sound and
lighting once again provided by Ivan (yay! Go Ivan!), and music being
provided by Jes'ad and Techie Fox (who've been very amused going
through past entries to the competition... like this Ukrainian Drag
Queen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqvGoVoufaE - I laughed so
hard!)
Now, we will be providing a Furovision T-Shirt to participants, along
with a confetti launcher tube to be let off at Taylor Square or the
Bobby Goldsmith Stands.

So now all we need is people to come and be in it! All fursuiters will
be on the back of the truck. After afew years of experience we know
that no-one can survive walking 2kms uphill in a full fursuit without
suffering badly from heat stress. If you really would like to march
you can in a partial suit as long as your eyes won't fog up.
In order to cover costs we will need a 40 dollar contribution from
each participant. If we get forty people, this will cover most of the
expenses.

ALSO: We will be needing two camerafurs! Preferable one stills and one
video camera, so if you have either, let me know.

Have a look at the 2006/2007 floats here:
2006 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aSXHZO_wgI
2007 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4F7jePvFpys

If you can come, please email me directly with your contact details,
and T-Shirt size. Also, please feel free to cross-post this to any
relevant forum you can see that I've missed.

LASTLY: There will be a party after the parade for furs at the
Collosseum (the home of Techie Fox, Yuumei Doragon, Harley Coyote and
myself). complete with High powered air conditioning. Even if you
can't be in the parade, come along to the party!

Lots of love!

Two furs trying to move east
Herro (the rest of) Australia!

(this is double posted from the mailing list)

This dingo and his lil white fox are trying to move over east to Queensland from Perth, its been it the works for a while, but I've finally saved up enough money to make the move.

I suppose this is a sort of call out.. if there are any furs over there that could put us up for a few weeks while we get set-up with work, then we can get a place of our own, get on our feet, and so on,
or maybe there is a fur or two looking to get out on their own that could come live with us when we're set up there.

I'd really like not to have to stay at a backpackers, but if it comes to it, I think thats our best option.

I know its kind of a long shot, but I thought I have nothing to loose by raising the question at least ^^

you can get me on msn: jet@reddingo.org

Thanks all,

Jet

Recent new Members
Greetings to you, those whose names ring a bell and those who don't.

Honestly I don't understand how we're getting this rush of new members. It's not like we're prolific in our postage or anything =^.^=

Nevertheless, welcome and to those who have been lurking for months or longer, let's get something actually happening around here. Too few posts for this community's age.

Just joined, thought I'd post a hello. I assume some(most?) of you know who I am, if not, Rose Quoll here. Brisbanite (for the last year); originally from Florida.

I make fursuits and draw. That's it. I have a terribly exciting life *chuckles*

I don't know if people here are interested but I can post my completed fursuits here. As well, if you're interested in art and fursuits, feel free to add quollity to your friends list.

Artistry
Yay I finally got to see what I look like on paper after receiving the picture of my character *jumps for joy* and may I say that Jasmine the artist who draw me did a magnificent job and I am not easily impressed or satisfied but it looks perfect I doubt if even one of the greats could have done it to such perfection it looks just as I imagined myself to and there is life in the eyes which I rarely see and not many seem to be able to master with it still looking life like. Well I guess I should paste a link so here take a look http://www.deviantart.com/view/18411572/ and while you are there browse through the rest of her work you won't be disappointed and if you are looking for a well price artist who’s work far surpasses the price she charges then give her a holler trust me its worth it.

Bye

Melbourne!

Greetings, Melbourne furs (and any interstaters feeling like a Melb meet). It's about time we got together and did something as a group again! Ideas, times, etc.. comment! Was thinking around March/April at this stage.. maybe a BBQ somewhere? I've thought of a couple of venues.. down by the bay, or up in the Dandenongs, at one of the national parks up there.

Hmm.
Has anyone used the new digital printing stuffers at places like Big-W, K-Mart, etc where you can take in a CD (or flash card, whatever) of photos, and get them printed up properly? I was just reading about a number of stores having the printer machine things now, and was thinking about going to get some nice photographic prints of anthro art. :D

At 33c per print, sounds like pretty damn good value to me. Having real prints of anthro art (without paying the huge nasty fees that most furry artists charge) would be great. :D
